Welcome
At the SPCGB AGM, a
commitment was given to post the welfare and rescue report on the
website. Members are being asked for their views on how
rescue should be run going forward. At present the system
requires a lengthy process of home checks and assessments.
Sadly with few helpers this can take some time and in some cases
might not be possible meaning potential adoptees are lost to us.
You can have your say by contacting the welfare coordinator Jason
Pearson.
We understand that
allegations are being made about a dog allegedly rehomed by us which
went on to bite its new owners grown up daughter. We would
like to categorically state that this dog was not homed by us and to
ask the people involved to contact us urgently to determine how this
misunderstanding could have happened.
Yours
The Welfare Team
Mr Paul Saxton
A case was successfully brought against Mr Paul Saxton in Nottingham County Court in which the judge found
in favour of the Club and ordered that the defendant - Mr Saxton -
pay £399 to the SPCGB in respect of a puppy sold by him whilst in
Welfare and Rescue. Costs were also awarded to the Club.
Mr Saxton's counter-claim for alleged kenneling fees was dismissed
by the judge.
We would remind any adopters that any cheque
donations for our Welfare and Rescue should always be made out to
SPCGB Welfare and Rescue and never to individuals, any cash donated
should be acknowledged with an official receipt from the Treasurer.
How to adopt
It is a
condition of adopting a dog from SPCGB that you become a member of
the club. To join, please email us for a membership form, fill
it in and
send it, together with your membership to Jackie Smith at the
address on the form. At the same time we will ask you to fill
in our adopter registration form so that once we have your
membership we can set the wheels in motion for the adoption.
How to register your dog for
adotpion
If you have a Shar Pei needing a new home, please complete our Dog
rehoming registration form to enable us to work with you to rehome
your Shar Pei. Please email recent photos of your dogs as
photographs massively increase the chances of your dog finding a new
home. We do ask people giving up dogs to consider
making a donation to help us find the right home for your pet.

SPROTY
2009

The
welfare team is delighted to announce that the SPCGB will be
introducing a Shar Pei Rescue of the Year in 2009. We will
begin planning shortly and are asking members, particularly those
with welfare dogs, to help us organise the event along with a fun
day for all Shar Pei owners. The competition will be open to
any rescued Shar Pei regardless of which rescue organisation you got
it from. The fun day is for anyone with a Shar Pei. If
you would like to get involved and help to organise and run the
event, please contact Jason Pearson if you can help.
